My TAFER Backpack

Being an outstanding student is not easy and requires a lot of effort, discipline and dedication. For this reason, for the past 3 years TAFER Hotels & Resorts has recognized the children of staff members who have an average above 8.7.  The school system in Mexico works slightly differently than in the United States or Canada. Whereas in the US and Canada an A+ grade is the highest and an F grade is the poorest, in Mexico they use a number system for grading. One is the lowest grade and 10 is the highest. Students must get at least a 6 to pass the subject.   Also in the US, schools are typically divided into three levels: elementary (grades K to 5), middle (grades 6 to 8) and high (grades 9 to 12). In Mexico, schools are also divided into three levels, but they work slightly differently too. Here there is primary (grades 1 to 6), secondary (grades 1 to 3) and baccalaureate (grades 1 to 3). The grades start at 1 again at each new school.   For the top performing children of the staff, who have worked for TAFER Hotels & Resorts for at least a year, they are rewarded with a special kit including a backpack with our company logo, …

What’s New at Bocados STK?

BocaDos STK is pleased to introduce our new dry-aged steaks! BocaDos STK first opened as a classic steakhouse with a contemporary twist at Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta. Our guests loved it so much that we opened a second Bocados STK at Garza Blanca Los Cabos with the same flavorful menu offering a variety of vegetarian and vegan options too, to satisfy everyone’s tastes.  Our chefs are pleased to present the addition of special dry-aged beef cooked and prepared just the way you like. With our new special dry-aging fridge, guests will be able to enjoy the most succulent steaks, dry-aged for a minimum of 35 days. The dry-aging process is used to create tender, juicier beef with a much more intense flavor. The meat gradually matures through a process of controlling the temperatures. We use this process on all our US choice meats. This helps to create a more pronounced flavor and texture.   Guests have the choice of 5 different types of steaks including: Rib Eye, Porter House, Cowboy, New York, and Bone-in Rib Eye. For couples, we recommend sharing the 30oz Porter House steak. That way you can share a couple of our extremely tasty appetizers and still have room for our decadent desserts!  For all-inclusive guests, the New York and Rib Eye dry-aged steaks are included in your all-inclusive package.  The Bone-in Rib Eye, Cowboy & …

Eagle’s Wings Heroes

Eagle’s Wings Foundation (EWF) is a non-profit organization based in California that the Villa Group Resorts’ founders started together with the late Jim McCarthy, a long-time Universal Vacation Club (UVCI) member, in 1999.  Jim McCarthy was the driving force of the foundation since he was so moved by the friendliness of the local people who welcomed him during his visits to Puerto Vallarta that he wanted to do something to make a difference in the local communities. The organization was set up to show appreciation for the unforgettable destinations and the local people who go out of their way to make the members vacations extra special.   In 2001, Eagle’s Wings foundation was awarded first prize for the ARDA Philanthropic award.    The mission of the Eagle’s Wings Foundation’s is to help the underprivileged and to “give back” to the communities surrounding the Villa Group Resorts and TAFER Hotels & Resorts by providing in-kind donations, financial aid, and volunteers.  On Thursday, July 9th, an event was held to deliver the Eagle’s Wings Foundation contributions, led by Mrs. Julieta Reynoso, the director of the foundation.  On behalf of TAFER Hotels & Resorts we had the honor of having Mr. Fernando González Jr., Executive Vice President of TAFER, who is responsible for all this being possible, Mr. Robert Kistner, Project Director …

Transforming the View

While the view has always been spectacular at Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta, we are pleased to share with our members that the view is now better than ever!  Taking advantage of the pandemic closure of Garza Blanca’s towers 2 and 3, we used this time to remodel the railings, which is a project that we have had in mind for a while. We have replaced the black wrought iron railings with tempered glass railings. While the iron railings represented the rustic and classic look of the Puerto Vallarta region, we wanted to replace them with glass panels for unobstructed views of the beautiful Banderas Bay and the already characteristic “arches” in order to meld with the surroundings even more.  Each type of railing creates a unique look and wrought iron has been popular for centuries, but we wanted to create a more spacious and contemporary feel without losing the touch of elegance that characterizes Garza Blanca.   The innovative design enables us to make the statement that we are modern and the glass railings impart a more open and spacious feel. Our goal was to provide durable railings that offer views that stand out even more! In addition, tempered glass is exceptionally …

Dear Member,  We hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe. Over the past weeks, we have engaged with a lot of members who can’t wait to return to our resort destinations. I know that many of our staff are eager to welcome you back to your home away from home. For over thirty years, our goal has been to deliver extraordinary vacation experiences. Even though things have been challenging over the past few months, this is still our goal. Our staff, our GMs, our developers and everyone within our organization remains committed to you, our members.  In June we reopened several of our resorts and started welcoming our members back. Each resort has worked tirelessly to ensure that all health and sanitization protocols are being followed to keep everyone at our resorts safe. We have previously communicated our detailed practices (Updated Health and Sanitization Protocols at Tafer Hotels & Resorts). To quickly recap, our primary focus is on deep cleaning practices, the use of PPE, social distancing, and adherence to suggestions from the CDC and WHO.  We also have been listening closely to what our members have to say. Through social media, newsletter comments, e-mails, blogs, and direct contact communication with our servicing company, ResortCom, we have created new promotions based on member feedback. …

An Inside Look at Vacation Ownership

Read an exclusive interview with Lourdes Ayala – Project Director at Garza Blanca Preserve Residence Club about vacation ownership.   María de Lourdes Ayala Ochoa is an intelligent, charming and hard-working woman, who is passionate about selling happiness.  1. Firstly, tell me a little bit about you?   I was born in Mexico City. I received my Bachelor of Business Administration and I moved to Puerto Vallarta 34 years ago. At the time, the timeshare industry was just beginning in Mexico and I got my first job selling timeshares. Since then I have managed to build an interesting career in marketing. I worked for several companies and started working as the Project Director for Garza Blanca Residence Club two and half years ago.   I am very curious about life and I am passionate about my work and being a woman in leadership. I am also a mother of two, and a grandma!  In my spare time I enjoy biking, doing yoga and traveling. I wouldn’t call myself a fashion expert, but I think that fashion is an important expression of a woman’s life. I enjoy expressing my individuality through my choice of clothing, which reflects my own style and personality.  2. What made you want to become involved with vacation ownership …

The Reopening of Garza Blanca Los Cabos

Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos closed in February for renovations and was slated to reopen in May, before the coronavirus hit forcing hotels and resorts around the world to temporarily close. On June 20th, the newest addition to our award-winning family of luxury resorts reopened and is once again welcoming guests.   “We put a lot of time and effort into the renovation. Garza Blanca Resort Welcomes First Guests Back After the COVID-19 Pandemic

When our first guests walked through our doors at Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta on the morning of May 19th, there was a collective sigh of relief. We were reminded of just how valuable our guests and members are and that without all of you, we can’t be us. Our members make Garza Blanca the special place that it is.    Getting to the day of the reopening was a journey. Stay-at-home orders and mandatory closures have been difficult on each and every one of us and we are happy that we can finally see the day where things slowly go back to a ‘new normal’ and we can welcome our guests back.   We know from several of the comments on our social media feeds that many of our guests and members were frustrated being on lockdown and they were dreaming of coming back to our resorts, our restaurants and beaches and to the wonderful views, and now all those things that you have missed are here for you to enjoy again.  Justin and his family are the first special guests to stay at Garza Blanca in Puerto Vallarta after the COVID-19 pandemic forced many …
